Step 1 of 4 · Before you start
Mexico residency calculator: do your finances meet the 2026 thresholds?
Mexico sets a minimum income or savings figure you must demonstrate to a consulate. This checks your numbers against the current thresholds and tells you which route, if any, your finances support.
The rules changed in July 2025, and the thresholds are revised every February. A great deal of guidance still circulating predates the change and understates what you need by more than half. The figures here are current to 31 January 2027.
Income or savings, not both. These are assessed separately. If one route falls short, the other may still work, which is why this asks for both.
Clearing the threshold is not approval. It is the financial test only. More applications fail on paperwork than on the numbers.
Your figures
Six fields. Nothing is sent anywhere until you choose to send it.
Permanent residency applied for directly at a consulate is only open to retirees and pensioners. Everyone else routes through temporary residency first.

After tax. What actually reaches your account.
Cash, investments and retirement accounts. Not property.
Where shall we send your result?
Your result appears on the next screen and we email you a copy to keep.
We will also tell you, at no cost, whether the route your figures support is the right one for your circumstances, and what your documentation would need to look like. That is the part that decides most applications.
