OUR FOUNDER

JOHN WATSON

Before moving to Mexico, I served as the CEO of a large fintech company. My career was built on managing investments and working alongside legal and accounting teams to navigate highly regulated industries. But when I moved here with my family, I quickly realized that the transition was a challenge that even a business background could not fully prepare me for.

  • I went through the same frustrations many of our clients face. I had to navigate the complexities of residency, setting up bank accounts, and finding reliable ways to manage currency exchange. I spent months figuring out the reality of the local insurance market and, as our family grew, finding the right pediatricians and hospitals. It was a tough process, and it became clear to me that it should not have to be that way.

  • I spent years building a network of local connections and learning how things actually get done here. I started ViaMexico to be the partner I needed back then. My background allows me to handle the technical side of a move, but my experience as a parent and an expat is what drives the way we work.
